Today marks 21 more days until spring and National Share a Smile Day is coming up on March 1st so we thought we’d share some simple tips and inspiration to get you in the mood to simplify your life this spring and be happier every day.
1. Go To Bed Earlier
A good night’s sleep leads to a more productive day. and a bigger smile. Pick a bedtime that let’s you get at least 7 hours of sleep and do your best to stick to it. Hamster wheel going round and round? Try deep breathing to fall asleep faster.
2. Clean your Closets…and Your Attitude!
Feel like things are piling up? Schedule a spring clean day (or two) this year. Crank up the tunes and clean out those closets! Make it fun and give your roommate, kids or spouse an incentive to help. There is nothing quite like the feeling you get when everything is in its place.
3. Give a Gift
Doing something for others always makes us feel good. Maybe you’ve grown apart from a special friend or maybe you don’t see your aging mother or grandmother as much as you know you should. Take the time to not only reconnect with the ones that mean the most but send them something special that will make their day!
4. Make a List
Research suggests that people who write things down and set goals are more productive than those that don’t. So get going on those To Do’s!
5. Pay Bills Online
Remove the clutter and centralize your bills online. Pick a day to check in on your finances and keep any paper bills in a dedicated bin near your computer so they don’t accidentally end up in the trash. Finances are one of the most stressful parts of life so adding a bit of organization and routine to this process can only reduce stress… and late fees!
6. Get Moving
Exercise is good for________ ...well just about everything! Get outside as the weather warms up and let the sun beat on your face. Take it all in and try to remember that each day is a privilege!
7. Just Say NO!
Feeling like you are burning the candle at both ends? Blow it out once in a while and don’t feel guilty about it. With the crazy demands of work, family, bills etc. etc.- life can start to feel out of control. Smile more this spring by just saying no to a few invites and spending more time for yourself.
8. Chill Out!
Stop and smell the Daisies people! Literally- try to become more aware as you go throughout your day. Stop and ask yourself if what you are doing right now is on purpose with your “Smile More” spring attitude. We can reduce stress and find our greatest inspiration when we stop and chill out for a little while each day.
9. Smile, Laugh and Have Fun!
Try to look at this spring as a chance to start fresh and look for the best in every situation. Life is hard sometimes but if you make an effort to smile more, you may just end up happier!
10. Treat Yourself
Accomplishments are meant to be rewarded! Tackle this list, stick to it and reward yourself with a new outfit, a new book or….did I hear someone say Cookies? Sometimes the “To: Me …From: Me”…gifts are the best medicine so go ahead, Treat yourself!
